It is seems obvious that Marvin Shilmer is highly placed in the WT organization. Who are we to say that from his position he can not eventually have a positive effect on the most harmful of JW doctrines/policies. These, in his mind, are likely to include the blood policy and shunning practices.
While it is true that he probably can not see his way clear to modify the “We Speak For God” policy, if he could get the murderous blood policy abolished and the shunning practices modified that would be a major accomplishment and would lessen the most harmful aspects of the JW religion.
Maybe that would be worth it. He has made his decision and I am very willing to take a wait and see approach with respect to him (I have no authority to judge him anyway). Had I personally waited, I’d be dead by now (blood saved my life).

Borgfree, I am shocked! I knew that Mrs. Muck ‘wore the pants” in that family even though her husband was an elder, but I had no idea that she would carry her leadership role that far. Wow! Her action speaks volumes about her faith in “Jehovah’s arrangement” doesn’t it? Are they still JWs?
Earlier you said that your family recently got back from an assembly in London. I am sorry to hear that you have not yet been successful in getting them out. Hopefully, in time…

Re-thinking the Cooper situation, I believe that last I heard they moved to Indianapolis. Did not know about Loyd’s illness. I had heard about Ralph and Jerry.
An interesting story about J C (who claimed to be of the anointed) was being circulated in 1973. He was a rather new elder at the time (appointed in 1972, I think, the first year of the elder arrangement) and he rotated to the “Bible Study Overseer” in ‘73 if my memory servers me correctly. He was reported to have said that it was appropriate that he would be rotating into the “Presiding Overseer” position in 1975, the year that the big “A” would hit!
All that sounds pretty ironic now.

Not really. I put in a token appearance or two during construction. What I remember more precisely were some C.A.s there; a couple in which I had a small part; and later when I had a pleasant encounter with the DO at the time. He seemed to be a caring person (wish I could remember his name); his attitude stood out in contrast with the majority of elders I was dealing with at the time.
Thanks for the update, Borgfree. Didn’t a lot of former "Richmondites" relocate in Florida? Mucks, Coopers? And Ed’s younger brother (I forget his name) who married a pretty blonde gal, I think?

i have told a couple of people on the board, thru e-mail, who i am, who my mother and family are.

i have been separated from the jws now for 4 years.
the first year, i went into a deep and severe clinical depression.
i think that's what happens when you are 3rd generation jw, born and raised.

Many of us here would like to share a hug with you; we do understand. I have a dad much like your sister. He has been an elder/congregation servant for over 60 years. I am a 4th generation JW. That is, I was. I have been drifting for more than 20 years. Finally, I am mostly out.
It does get better, mean time it is painful. Talk to us all you want to if that will help.

This writer’s story did not even rise to the level of half-truths. More often than not, “bloodless” care requires LONGER stays, not shorter stays. “Bloodless” care is usually more expensive, not less expensive. Why did he not mention the cost of EPO and other “bloodless” drugs like albumin? Did he factor in the early admission required to “build-up” this type of patient?
This story implies that each day of a hospital stay costs about the same amount. That assumption is not usually correct. The early days of a hospital admission are usually the most expensive. These are the days when the majority of the expensive diagnostic work is done: Lab tests, x-rays, etc. followed by any corrective procedures, surgery and perhaps an ICU admission. Lying in a general care bed recovering afterward is less expensive than those early admission days.
However, why are we even talking about these medical issues? I thought this was a religious issue.
